Tom runs out of the house, bleeding, still horrified at everything. His cell phone rings, and knowing it could only be Wayne, he throws it against a wall and it shatters in a million pieces. Good for Tom!

Not bad for The Leftovers, which turned in a solid showing with "Solace for Tired Feet," an hour that propelled the show's plot into some intriguing corners even as it reminded us that many of its characters remain unknowable, even seven episodes in.
