Description
Following the life of Emma and Lyn, two sisters from Mexican American roots, who have an alternate way of life, whose life flips around, when they need to come back to their hometown in the East side of Los Angeles, where they face the unpleasant certainties about their mom. Vida's six-part farewell season also feels gangly, its ambitions outstripping its execution. I'm only being as hard on the show as I am because, for most of its run, it's been a triumph of personal vision and uncompromising complexity.

I'm sorry we won't get a fourth season to watch Emma and Lyn solidify Vida's vital place in the neighborhood; it feels like a miracle, though, that this little gem of a show even got the three seasons it did.
