The episode is an effective stage-setter, focused mainly on the townspeople's reaction to suddenly being cut off from the world and less on the mechanics of living in a dome without power and a limited supply of food.

Under the Dome is compelling enough that if I'd received all 13 hours, I'd probably still be watching.
