Las Vegas has so many assets, including James Caan as its biggest-name star, that the show should be a good bet. But like casino chips sprinkled over a roulette table, the assets of this NBC show aren't being used very wisely.

Given how little of compelling interest happens here, one's take on the series will likely depend largely on whether one finds Las Vegas a priori a place of glamour or just a sad machine for parting suckers from their money.
