Description

Thundered back onto the BBC in a manner that honored the series' canon while also injecting new energy and reestablishing a show previously aimed primarily at children as one sophisticated enough that adult geeks could love it unabashedly. [Blu-ray]

If the program was inquisitive science fiction in 1963 and an alien invasion thriller in 1970, then in 2005 it must be considered a character drama.

Between the Doctor and Rose there is genuine, old-fashioned chemistry, and their interaction, which occasionally takes on the aspect of screwball comedy, is much the best thing in the show.
