Mathau is great in everything he does. But let's not forget how insanely good Joe Don't Baker was! The fact that he most adeptly played a virtuous real life sheriff's role (Original walking tall) and a psychopath with a badge in the same year stands as testament to his most pliable skill. Charley Varrick would not be Charley Garrick without Baker!
