Mary and the Witch's Flower (Meari to majo no hana) [Sub: Eng]
Description
We live here a strong animation story, where the story tells about a young girl living with her aunt Charlotte without having friends or adventures. The girl began a relationship with a mysterious cat in the forest, where she discovered the old broomstick and the flower of Fly By Night, a plant that thrives only once every seven years. It seems that Mary decides to move to the clouds away, where she teaches at the Magic School run by Mumblechook and the wonderful doctor Dee.

The spell Mr. Yonebayashi casts is effective, but also ephemeral. It's minor magic.

On its own merits, the film is an enchanting diversion, but director Hiromasa Yonebayashi... spends too much time reminding us of Ghibli's greatest hits instead of attempting to craft his own masterpiece.

It's a very loose adaptation of the book, as was Howl's Moving Castle and Arrietty, but there's charm in the mix of English kid-lit tropes and the sort of wild imagination cultivated in Japanese animation.
