The Festival
Description
When Nick collapsed in front of his group because of his failure, Shane found himself in front of a new mission to get his friend out of that bad situation. Shane seems to have the best solution, three days in an epic music festival with the help of 'The Gift of the Festival' and 'The Stranger' Amy, so that each of the friends embraces a new and exciting world. At that celebration, Chen tries to make Nick embrace music, chaos and other fun celebrations.

Play[s] the crude shock value card with swaggering confidence, while there's just enough sprinkling of weirdness and endearing sweetness to balance things out.

Like festivals themselves, this isn't for everyone, but if your ears are still ringing from a long weekend in a field, this is the summer silliness for you.

After the initial sticky patch, audiences are likely to find themselves amenable and even enthusiastic - much like the festival experience, in fact.
August 22, 2018
Not exactly groundbreaking comedy, but Morris clearly knows his youthful audience demographic well, playing on their hang-ups as much as their aspirations.

Production values aren't high but with Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas leading a well-chosen cast there is fun to be had amid the mud, madness and drugged-up Smurfs.

While many gags are enjoyably unhinged, most of the humour feels very lazy, pushing the expected buttons while pretending to be sexy and/or disgusting.

The Festival can't get out of the shadow of The Inbetweeners, but it's well worth a watch for all fans of the series.

The main insight provided here is that festival going is a mixture of heaven and hell.

It's the specificity of the stereotypes that Morris hangs out to dry that make the film so funny.
