Silence (2016)
Description
In a mission that seems realistic and exciting to two Catholic missionaries. Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver went to Japan for their real journey, which is a real test of their faith and religious power. They both travel to Japan to search for their missing teacher, Liam Neeson. This is the most dangerous task in history, a real test of Andrew and Adam because of the ban on the existence of Catholicism at that time and the existence of such people who call it.

"Silence" feels like a career summation for a filmmaker who has spent his life exploring his faith through his work. Here is a movie about the importance of religion that will move you, regardless of whichever God you worship - or don't.March 28, 2017
Like the resolution of Ted Chiang's Tower of Babylon, there is no answer in inward faith: there's only the outward expression of grace. Silence is a masterpiece.May 10, 2017

Scorsese doesn't glorify martyrdom, and he doesn't even hate the killers. He makes death as blunt and dull and useless as a snapped pencil. The point is that there is no point.January 12, 2017

Scorsese's abiding passion and respect for his source material are everywhere in evidence. For once, perhaps, they are a little too great.
