I'm not exactly sure why the story was moved from the states to France. It's not that it brought much of anything new to the already shallow material.

Once the gore starts splattering, it is impressively icky... pleasing - or unpleasant - depending upon the audience's range of expectations... laying out a family-sized feast that is like something from the most horrific Greek tragedies.
